SMB’s Cabagnot surprise leader in Comm’s Cup BPC race; Star’s Ratliffe tops imports

A Beermen is leading the race for the Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference award.

But no, it’s not 3-time MVP June Mar Fajardo. It’s twelve-year veteran Alex Cabagnot.

The 34-year old Fil-Am lefty out of Eagle Rock California is on top with a statistical point average of 34.7 points at the close of the elimination round.

Cabagnot averaged 15.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists to help his team finish as the no. 2 seed with a 9-2 win-loss record.

Behind the SMB point guard are GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle (33.4), Brgy. Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar (32.3), Fajardo (32.2) and Terrence Romeo (31.5).

Rounding out the top 10 are TNT’s Jayson Castro (31.3), Marcio Lassiter (31.2), Chris Ross (30.9), LA Tenorio (30.2), and Meralco’s Baser Amer (29.6).

In the race for the Best Import award, Star’s balik-import Ricardo Ratliffe is the leading the pack with an average of 65.7 statistical points. The 6’8″ Ratliffe submitted averages of 34.7 points, 21.0 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 2.0 assists in three games.

Brgy. Ginebra’s Justin Brownlee is a distant second with an average of 53.5. Blackwater’s Greg Smith (52.9), Phoenix’ Jameel McKay (47.7) and Alaska’s Cory Jefferson (47.4) round out the top 5. – Mae Villarin
