Stanley Pringle proved too hot to handle for TnT Katropa as the Fil-Am guard went on a huge second half explosion to steer Globalport to a rousing 119-112 win Friday night in the PBA Governors Cup at the Ynares Center here.
Pringle was in the zone in the last two quarters, scoring 17 of his career-high 30 points in outplaying veteran Jayson Castro in a run-and-gun, high-octane game.
He was 10 of 16 from the field, and 3 of 5 from three-point range. For good measure, Pringle added eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the win that allowed the Batang Pier to even their record at 3-3 and stay very much in the run for a berth in the quarterfinals.
“It’s a morale-boosting win for us,” said coach Franz Pumaren after the game.
Import Murphey Holloway was a force to reckon inside for the Batang Pier with 24 points and 17 rebounds on a night Terrence Romeo had a quiet 13 points on 5 of 14 shooting.
But Globalport got plenty from Sean Anthony and Mike Cortez, who had 21 and 11 points, respectively, and combine for 17 points in the fourth quarter. – PBA
