Incoming PBA rookie Christian Standhardinger has been named to the Philippine team which will see action in the 2018 FIBA 3×3 World Cup scheduled on June 8 to 12 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue Bulacan.
Joining the 28-year old Fil-German on the team are GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle and TNT’s Troy Rosario and Roger Pogoy.
Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio announced the composition of the team during the break between the scheduled PBA games, Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ronnie Magsanoc, former PBA player and current assistant coach for the Meralco Bolts, has been tasked to mentor the team.
The Philippines is bracketed in Pool C along with Canada, Mongolia, Brazil and Russia.
Also named were members of the women’s team. They are Afril Bernardino, Jack Animam, Gemma Miranda, and Janine Pontejos.
The distaff side, which will be coached by Patrick Aquino, is in Pool D along with Hungary, Netherlands, Germany and Spain.
Each team plays the 4 other teams in their respective pools. The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the quarterfinals. The teams will then play knock-out games all the way to the final round.
