Without Allein Maliksi and Jio Jalalon, who are already deep in their preparations for the upcoming SEABA tournament with Gilas Pilipinas, Paul Lee stepped up and played his best game of the 2017 Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup to help the Star Hotshots officially book a ticket to the quarterfinals with a 99-93 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the Batangas City Coliseum Saturday.
The Hotshots improved to 6-2 after winning their second straight victory. The Painters, on the other hand, fell to 4-4.
Lee finished with 23 points, four rebounds, and five assists to lead all scorers. Star import Tony Mitchell was efficient with his scoring with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. He also added 18 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.
Mark Barroca was the only Hotshot to score in double digits outside of Lee and Mitchell with 11 points, but they got a little bit from everyone with five more players scoring seven points or more. – Sports5
