The 2017 PBA Rookie Draft has barely ended when the very first deal of PBA Season 43 was consummated.

Star and GlobalPort sealed the first transaction of the upcoming season by swapping draft picks.

The Hotshots dealt their first pick in the first round and 9th overall Lervin Flores together with their second round picks Joseph Gabayni (14th overall) and Julian Sargent (16th overall) to the Batang Pier for 6th overall pick Robbie Herndon and 24th overall pick Andreas Cahilig.

Star originally wanted Herndon with their first pick but was beaten to the draw by GlobalPort. The 24-year old native of San Francisco, California is now xpected to fill the vacuum created by the departure of sharp-shooter Allein Maliksi.

The 6-foot-2 Fil-Am recently boosted his draft stock when he was named to the Mythical Five of the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft Combine together with Kiefer Ravena, Jason Perkins, Jeron Teng and Raymar Jose.

GlobalPort meanwhile fortified its frontcourt rotation with the addition of the Flores, Gabayni and the hardworking Sargent.

Trade is still awaiting the approval of Commissioner Chito Narvasa.
