The Star Hotshots have signed rookie Robbie Herndon to a two-year contract on Friday.

Herndon was originally drafted by GlobalPort with the 6th overall pick but was immediately shipped to the Hotshots along with Gian Abrigo for the trio of Lervin Flores, Joseph Gabayni and Julian Sargent.

The 24-year old Fil-Am signed the deal in the presence of Star team manager Alvin Patrimonio at the Ronac Gym after the team’s practice session.

Aside from Herndon, also renewing ties with the SMC-owned franchise is veteran PJ Simon.

The 37-year old native of Makilala, Cotabato agreed to a one-year contract extension with the only team he has played for in the PBA.

Simon was drafted 43rd overall in 2001 by the now-defunct Sta. Lucia Realtors but never got to play for the team. He was signed up in 2004 by Purefoods and has been with the team eversince.

Star has already waived Abrigo and 3rd round pick Thomas Torres and is leaning towards signing rookie Gywne Capacio to a short-term deal.
