Ginebra is currently the hottest team in the PBA Governors’ Cup after winning its last 7 games. But as far as coach Tim Cone is concerned, the Kings aren’t playing their best basketball yet.
“We’re coming down a little bit. We’re not as good defensively than we were 2 or 3 games ago,” Cone admitted, whose team had to weather a serious Blackwater challenge before pulling away in the final period for a 98-81 win on Friday.
For the American coach, looking wobbly at times is understandable, calling it part of the players’ “human nature”.
“It’s hard to sustain your habits through a long winning streak. It’s just natural reaction to relax a little bit. It’s human nature. We’re battling our human nature,” he explained.
Heading to Sunday’s titanic game against the grand slam-seeking San Miguel Beer, Cone admits the Beermen will be their biggest test to see how ready are they in defending their crown in the season-ending conference. – FOX Sports Asia
