Terrence Romeo was slapped with a P25,000 fine by the PBA for issuing statements deemed as detrimental to the league.
The incident happened after TNT KaTropa’s game against GlobalPort which was won handily by Romeo’s new team.
The 26-year old native of Imus, Cavite was whistled for back-to-back lifting violations before being called for a travelling violation with time down to less than 3 minutes in the final canto and TNT up by a comfortable 15-point spread.
Romeo was immediately pulled out by coach Nash Racela after committing the turnovers.
During the post-game interview, Romeo blasted the official who called the violations.
“Siguro may nakikita yung referee na talagang nakikita niya siguro yung sa galing ibang planeta eh. Hindi ko alam kung ano, so siguro next time, mag-aadjust ako, kasi ewan ko kung saang planeta siya nag-referee before, eh wala akong magagawa,” said Romeo.
“Pero hindi bale, adjust na lang ako, sana maka-pasyal ako sa planeta nila next time,” he added.
League commissioner Willie Marcial imposed the penalty shortly after hearing the side of Romeo at the PBA office in Libis Quezon City.
