Tim Cone admitted it was difficult to let go of athletic wingman Chris Ellis.
The 6-4 Ellis was part of the 2-for-2 trade that saw the Fil-American and back up big man Dave Marcelo shipped by Ginebra to Blackwater in exchange for Art Dela Cruz and bruising undersized slotman Raymond Aguilar on Thursday morning.
The American coach said when he finally came on board at the start of last season and began building the team around big men Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar, the 28-year-old Ellis was suddenly confined to a limited role
“We clipped his (Ellis) wings when we put him into a role since our team was built on Greg and Japeth,” shared the 2-time PBA grand slam coach.
“As he goes to Blackwater, he has the chance to be the main man. But that’s up to Blackwater, and go there to impact that team and kinda expand his team and show what he can really do.” – FOX Sports Asia
