Tim Cone ‘very proud’ of Brgy. Ginebra’s runner-up finish

Barangay Ginebra fell prey to mighty San Miguel Beer 85-91 on its fifth match in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup titular showdown on Sunday night at the packed Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Multi-titled coach Tim Cone, however, admitted the Gin Kings have nothing to be ashamed of, especially with the way his wards tried their best to hurled every obstacle on their way and putting up more fight from a seventh-ranked team in the playoffs.

And that should be enough—to say the least—for the Gin Kings to be encouraged more than anything else, barely five months after snapping the team’s eight-year title drought in last season’s Governors Cup.

“Honestly I’m very proud of our guys coming from the seventh seed, coming from the championship and getting back to the finals. That’s already a great feat because guys are worn out,” said Cone, sticking to the positives amid the Gin Kings’ repeated setbacks with the continued absence of center Greg Slaughter. – FOX Sports Asia
