At least four players from TNT KaTropa will reinforce the country’s national basketball team for the 2018 Asian Games scheduled on August 18 to September 2 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia.
This was disclosed by PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas after an emergency meeting by the league’s Board of Governors on Thursday at the PBA office in Libis, Quezon City.
Jayson Castro, Terrence Romeo, Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario will spearhead the team along with Andray Blatche and either Carl Bryan Cruz or Calvin Abueva of the Alaska Aces.
Members of the Gilas cadets will fill up the remaining slots.
This was the solution arrived at by the PBA after taking into consideration several options at hand since the continental, multi-sport event will he held at a time when the league is in the middle of the Governors’ Cup.
Vargas also bared that TNT coach Nash Racela will join the Gilas coaching staff.
Final team composition will be due for submission to the Asian Games organizers by the second week of June.
