Tropang TNT’s bid to repeat as Commissioner’s Cup champions ended with a whimper as they were blown out by the Alaska Aces in a knockout quarterfinal game on Friday.
The defeat – in a game where they trailed by as many as 25 points – left a bitter taste in the mouth for the team’s multi-titled head coach, Jong Uichico.
The coach believes that some of the players are still living in their past glories, particularly their dominant run under former coach Chot Reyes a few seasons ago.
“They’re living in the time, the Chot Reyes time. Chot Reyes did a great job with their five championships. They’re living in those days. They’re not there anymore. You should find another way to play the game,” Uichico added.
He criticized the team’s attitude, particularly the way they react when things aren’t going their way.
“When things are going well, they’re playing well, but when things are not going well, they just give up,” the coach said.
For now, Uichico will wait for the management’s recommendation before meeting the players and coaching staff to address the problems that have affected their past three campaigns. – InterAksyon.com
