In record-breaking fashion, the amount of fines handed down by the PBA on players and coaches breached the P300K mark for the month of December 2016 alone. The total amount of P300,300 is the largest ever in a single month since Commissioner Chito Narvasa assumed office in May of 2015.
Of the total amount, P220K were on Flagrant Foul Penalty 1 – an innovation started by Narvasa himself.
The Meralco Bolts received the heaviest penalty amongst all teams with P59,000 in total fines while Brgy. Ginebra got the smallest amount with only P13,500.
In all, 55 players and 9 coaches were fined with Meralco’s Cliff Hodge getting the biggest penalty of P20,000.
