San Miguel back-up guard Ronald Tubid is ready to face whatever penalty will PBA hand him after dealing Meralco rookie Chris Newsome a swollen eye on Sunday night.

Already seeing limited action in the Beermen’s conference opener, Tubid’s appearance in the court was halted after inadvertently hitting Newsome’s face in a rebound play in the fourth quarter, which game officials ruled as flagrant foul penalty 2, meriting him an automatic ejection in the game.

Newsome was left shaken off the ground and had to be attended by its team doctor inside the court as blood gushed above his right eyebrow.

Though failing to give personal apology to Newsome before heading to the dugout, the rugged shooter insisted he meant no ill intention to the reigning Rookie of the Year.

“Part of the game lang yun,” he said. “Minsan kasi ganun, nag-swing ako, di ko maiwasan, promise. Nataon sa ulo eh.” – FOX Sports Asia
