Former Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel and current Magnolia Hotshots import Vernon Macklin accepted an offer to play in China’s National Basketball League (NBL) which unfortunately put an abrupt ending on his second PBA stint.
This development was announced on Twitter by Macklin’s agent Sherly Reyes.
Vernon Macklin unfortunately will play his last game this May 18. He was given a guaranteed contract with the NBL China that he can’t pass up on. We would like to thank Boss Al, Mr. Pardo for understanding our situation and allowing him to go. He is sad but he needs this for his future.

Macklin averaged 22 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists in 2 games which the Hotshots split. They lost a close one to the Phoenix Fuel Masters, 87-89 before pulling off a 92-87 win over GlobalPort in Pampanga.
The 31-year old reinforcement will still play for Magnolia when the team takes on Columbian on the 16th and Meralco on the 18th.
The team is said to be looking at 2 candidates but declined to name them.
