‘Wala tayong magagawa. Malakas yung kalaban, malakas pati sa taas’ says Calvin Abueva

Alaska star Calvin Abueva didn’t mince any words on Tuesday night after the Aces’ stunning early exit in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup.

While Alaska coach Alex Compton expressed his satisfaction over the officiating despite the second-ranked Aces’ 97-108 loss to No. 7 Barangay Ginebra in their knockout clash, the 6-foot-1 Abueva didn’t hide his frustrations as they suffered yet another heartbreaking run in the all-Filipino tournament for the third straight season.

“Siyempre alam naman natin na malakas ‘yung kalaban, malakas pati sa taas. Wala na tayong magagawa,” added Abueva, insinuating a view that the Aces got on the short end of calls against the Gin Kings.

“Hanggang dulo may kasama. Hindi natin alam kung sino. Basta kami naglaro kami ng maayos. Hindi naman natin maaano, twice-to-beat naman kami,” Abueva told reporters after the game. – FOX Sports Asia
