The nightmare is finally over for the Alaska Aces and it’s only fitting that their breakthrough win came at the hands of a team that has tormented them for so long in the San Miguel Beermen.
After five long months, the Aces got their first taste of a victory, winning 90-79, against the PBA Grand Slam seeking Beermen in the 2017 Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup Saturday night at the AUF Sports and Cultural Center in Angeles City, Pampanga.
After scoring only 10 points in their last loss to Ginebra, LaDontae Henton bounced back big time against the Beermen, scoring 36 points and adding 15 rebounds and three steals in a game that the Aces led all the way.
The Beermen could not get their rhythm in the first half of play as they struggled to adjust to their new import Terik Bridgeman. SMB only scored nine points in the opening quarter as the Aces pounced on them early.
