Barangay Ginebra San Miguel extended their winning streak to four games in the 2017 Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup as they won over the lowly Alaska Aces, 94-80, on Saturday at the Hoops Dome in Lapu Lapu City.
It was a total team effort for Ginebra scoring the basketball as five players notched double-figures. However, the night belonged not to a player who led the team in scoring, but rather through his stellar all-around game.
Scottie Thompson nearly registered a triple-double with eight points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.
All three big men of Ginebra also had strong double-double performances: Justin Brownlee (22 and 10), Greg Slaughter (12 and 13), and Japeth Aguilar (15 and 11).
Calvin Abueva did all he could with his 22-point, 13-rebound performance, but they were not enough. Import LaDontae Henton provided only 10 points and seven rebounds.
Ginebra now improves to 4-1 while the struggles of the Alaska Aces continue as they are now 0-6.
