Greg Slaughter finally plunged back into action and helped Barangay Ginebra to a jackrabbit start en route to a 105-91 blasting of Blackwater in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna Friday night.
Slaughter joined LA Tenorio, Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson and Chuck Garcia in the starting unit that set the tone early in their dominant showing against the hapless Blackwater side.
The Kings nailed a first win in three outings while the Elite went down reeling to a fifth straight loss in the mid-season tourney.
Inactive since the late part of the Philippine Cup elims, Slaughter went 5-of-6 from the field for 10 points in the first half — a key help as the Kings finally broke into the win-column after back-to-back losses to Rain or Shine and TNT KaTropa.
Kevin Ferrer sizzled with 21 points off the bench while Garcia, Aguilar, Thompson and Tenorio added at least 10 markers as the Kings added to the woes of the Elite who suffered another defeat after earlier losses to Columbian Dyip, Phoenix Petroleum, Alaska Milk and GlobalPort.
