Barangay Ginebra San Miguel secured first place after beating the Mahindra Floodbuster, , on the last day of the elimination round of the 2017 Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
“We got the win and we’re moving on and secured the number one seed. Now we’ll see who we’ll play,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone. “It’s nice to be the number one seed but there’s always expectations that comes with it.”
The Kings hold a 9-2 record and will be heading into the quarterfinals as the top seed with a twice-to-beat advantage against the winner of the playoff game between Alaska and GlobalPort.
Justin Brownlee finished the game with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. He also dished out five dimes.
Japeth Aguilar scored 14 markers, while Mark Caguioa provided much-needed offense off the bench with 13 points.
