Without Fajardo in the lineup, San Miguel had a tough time getting the ball in the hoop in the first half. The Beermen shot only 38% from the field, even more terrible from the foul line. They were also outrebounded, 33-22, and were outscored in bench production, 17-2, as they trailed 53-42 after the first two quarters.
