WATCH: Chris Newsome bungles uncontested alley-oop shot!

Chris Newsome refused to cry over spilled milk after missing a game-tying basket in Meralco’s heartbreaking 81-79 loss to Magnolia Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Bolts looked to have forced a five-minute overtime period when inbounder KG Canaleta threw a lob pass to an open Newsome underneath with 3.1 seconds remaining.

But Newsome failed to convert his point-blank attempt as Meralco fell short of scoring another win against a title contender after its upset of defending PBA Commissioner’s Cup champion San Miguel last May 9.

The loss, which also came after leading by 10 points in the third quarter, dropped Meralco’s record to 3-2 for a share of fifth place with GlobalPort going into the All-Star break.
