Dynasty Duel Question: Flagrant Foul despite clearly going for the ball?

With the game clock pegged at 8:34 in the 2nd Quarter of Game 3 of the semis series between TNT and San Miguel, Jayson Castro saw a cutting Kelly Williams and immediately dished off a pass to the 6’7″ Fil-Am forward. Williams went up and was met in the air by SMB’s Ronald Tubid.

Tubid was clearly going for the ball, as can be seen from the replays, but the force of the impact sent the 2 players crashing to the floor. Williams remained sprawled on the floor while Tubid stood up immediately.

The SMB ‘energizer bunny’ was eventually assessed a Flagrant Foul Penalty 1 to the dismay of the SMB bench and their fans watching live in the venue.

TV Commentator Andy Jao stated that Tubid was indeeed going for the ball and if ever there was a foul it should only be a regular one. He added that it’s what you would call a ‘playoff’ foul. – Mae Villarin
