For the first time this conference, the GlobalPort Batang Pier scored back-to-back victories. In a game that had huge implications on both teams’ playoff hopes, GlobalPort eked out a 107-101 win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in Biñan, Laguna.
Terrence Romeo drilled in big shots late in the game to lift his squad. He finished with 26 points, five rebounds and seven assists while going 4-for-10 from beyond the arc. Justin Harper was also productive despite being slowed down by foul trouble. He put up 19 points and 10 boards.
Sean Anthony added 15 points for GlobalPort. Stanley Pringle also had 15. But the Neon Nation also got crucial contribution from Von Pessumal. The rookie contributed nine points and two assists. He had three triples that neutralized Rain or Shine runs.
With a 4-6 record, GlobalPort is now tied with Phoenix for the 8th seed. They still, however, can get eliminated depending on the results of the conference’s remaining games.
Rain or Shine drops to 5-5.
