The Meralco Bolts made sure that they wouldn’t have to mount another last ditch effort, as they raced to an early lead and took care of business against the Star Hotshots, 96-90, in the 2017 Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup Saturday in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Playing in the brand new Multi-Purpose Complex, the Bolts looked like a rejuvenated squad as they leaned on the might of Allen Durham inside, as well the hot shooting of Garvo Lanete and Baser Amer from the perimeter.
Durham was a monster all game long, as he finished with 29 points, 27 rebounds and seven assists, while also chipping in three blocks for the Bolts.
Star was led by import Malcolm Hill’s 28 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Jio Jalalon’s 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
With the victory, Meralco climbed to 6-3 in the standings, while the Hotshots lost their third straight game and dropped to 4-3 in a tie with the San Miguel Beermen.
