The streaking Star Hotshots kept themselves in contention for the No. 2 spot after a rousing 47-point beatdown of the Meralco Bolts, 120-73, in the Oppo PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Allein Maliksi scored 25 points, including five three-pointers, in just over 20 minutes of play to lead the way for the Hotshots, who moved into a three-way tie with TNT and Alaska for second place after picking up a sixth win in 10 games.

Star’s backcourt duo of Paul Lee and Jio Jalalon each added 15 markers with Lee knocking down three triples and tallying a team-high five assists and the rookie Jalalon shooting 7-for-9 from the field for a 77-percent clip.

Aldrech Ramos added 13 points while Justin Melton, Ian Sangalang and Mark Barroca all finished in double figures as well with 10.
