After suffering three consecutive losses, the Star Hotshots finally went back to their winning ways at the expense of the GlobalPort Batang Pier, 109-83, in the 2017 Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
“Coming from a three-game losing skid, we have that sense of urgency to play hard and a must win for us itong game na ito,” said head coach Chito Victolero as they barged into the win column and improved their record to 5-3. “I’m very happy, my players stepped up especially in defense and rebounding.”
Ian Sangalang earned Best Player of the Game honors as he finished with a double-double of 17 points, on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting, and 10 rebounds.
Malcolm Hill led all scorers with 32 points, to go with all-around numbers of 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and two blocks.
