Just like in their previous game, the Meralco Bolts and TNT KaTropa needed five more minutes to settle their 2017 Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals duel on Friday night at the Araneta Coliseum. After a bizarre ending in regulation, TNT simply outgunned Meralco in overtime as they went on to a 104-96 win.
Jayson Castro and Joshua Smith delivered a herculean effort to give TNT the semis berth. Castro ended up with 31 points and three steals while Smith had a double-double of 31 points and 27 rebounds.
For the Bolts, they were led by Baser Amer who had 25 points (17 in the first half) and Jared Dillinger who chipped in with 20 points.
With the semifinals starting this weekend, Racela and the rest of TNT KaTropa will have to quickly savor their win against Meralco and gear up for Ginebra.
