In case it materializes, Gilas Pilipinas can finally have its long overdue national dream team in the future.

It was after no less than Philippine Basketball Association officer-in-charge Willie Marcial admitted the possibility of the board not limiting a number of players anymore from each team to be made availabele for the national team in a recent chat with sportscribes at the Gilas practice on Monday night in Ortigas.

Though it remains to be seen as Marcial only relayed the possibility, it would be welcoming development for the national team should it would push through.

In the current agreement between the PBA and the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas, only one cadet and one veteran per team can be made available for Gilas Pilipinas.

If Marcial’s wish would finally come into fruition, the Filipino fans will be able to witness the cream of the crop of Philippine basketball just in time for the 2019 FIBA World Cup if Gilas happens to sneak through in the ongoing Asian Qualifiers.

The possible development would mean not only Jayson Castro, June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Terrence Romeo and Calvin Abueva bannering the team but also the likes of Greg Slaughter, Paul Lee and Marcio Lassiter to name a few.

Nevertheless, Marcial assured Gilas it has 100% support of the PBA by all means possible.

Gilas Pilipinas is currently bracing up for the second window of the Asian Qualifiers slated on February.

Currently sitting atop of the Pool B, Gilas resumes back in action by visiting also unbeaten Australia on February 22 in Melbourne.

And as much as possible, Marcial alongside the PBA vow to be with the team just like they always have since under the watch of former Commissioners Chito Salud and Chito Narvasa.
