Sam Deguara in now the newest center of attraction for San Miguel Alab Pilipinas.
The 7-foot-6 Maltese-Italian, who previously played for Mono Vampire and Hong Kong Eastern, came in as a replacement for the unimpressive Adrian Forbes after the 31-year old Jamaican could only produce 4.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in his first 2 games for the Philippine representative to the Asean Basketball League (ABL).
“I feel proud that I’m representing the team. It’s a pleasure for me and I’m proud to represent them this time,” said Deguara after an impressive debut which saw the big man drop 12 points, haul down 11 rebounds, and reject 2 shots in Alab’s 90-83 win over the Singapore Slingers.
Deguara, however, felt that he still has a lot to improve on after leaving the game early due to foul trouble.
“I just have to get better for myself and play just how I know the game,” he said.
And with former teammate Jason Brickman now on his side again, Deguara believes it won’t be a difficult transition process.
“Jason is the key of our team. He helps us on and off the court. He’s a great teammate.”
