The Alaska Aces proved all they needed was a chance.
Given that opening by Magnolia’s win over NLEX Wednesday, the Aces came out and pulled their own win versus the Road Warriors to salvage the last slot in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Final Eight.
Sonny Thoss and his teammates dealt the Road Warriors tremendous beating in the first three quarters and went on to score an 88-80 victory that shoved them to a quarterfinals showdown with the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters.
But as the eighth seed, Alaska will need to win two in a row to progress to the semifinals.
And the Aces will only have one day to prepare to foil the Fuel Masters’ first of two cracks at the semis Sunday at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.
But as in the last time, Alaska coach Alex Compton said a chance was all they could hope for. And they’re raring to pound the opportunity once again.
