Alaska Milk kept its splurge and turned back the struggling June Mar Fajardo-less San Miguel Beer side, 127-119, to gain a piece of second place in the PBA Governors Cup elimination round at the Ynares Sports Center here Saturday night.

Mike Harris stood his ground against Kevin Murphy, and Vic Manuel held his own against Arwind Santos and Christian Standhardinger to lead the Aces past the Beermen and to joint second with the Blackwater Elite and the Magnolia Hotshots at 5-1.

The Beermen, losing much firepower and defensive presence minus the injury-hit Fajardo, suffered a third straight loss in this Petron Blaze road showdown and dropped down to 2-4.

The good news for the Philippine Cup titleholder is that Fajardo is rejoining the team soon.

The Aces outfought the Beermen in the crunch, making a key run from a tight 107-105 count on the heroics of Manuel, Harris, Simon Enciso and Jeron Teng.

The scores:

ALASKA 127 – Harris 36, Manuel 20, Enciso 18, Banchero 15, Teng 12, Exciminiano 11, Casio 7, Racal 7, J. Pascual 1, Baclao 0.

SMB 119 – Murphy 45, Standhardinger 28, Santos 20, Cabagnot 14, Lassiter 7, Nabong 5, Mamaril 0, Ganuelas-Rosser 0, Ross 0.
