PBA Philippine Cup titlist San Miguel Beer tries to steady the ship in its journey in the Governors’ Cup in unveiling former Utah Jazz Kevin Murphy against Magnolia Pambansang Manok Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After going 2-2 with the injury-hit AZ Reid, coach Leo Austria and his staff have decided to tap in Murphy who’s bringing in a wealth of playing experience, including stints in France, Japan, China and Croatia.

Murphy makes his PBA debut at 6:45 p.m. against a Magnolia side that is among the early frontrunners in the season-ending tourney with three wins against a lone defeat.

The former Tennessee Tech product, who flew in Thursday, has to buckle down to work right away as the team will still be minus June Mar Fajardo. Game time decision is the readiness of Alex Cabagnot and Marcio Lassiter.

Magnolia coach Chito Victolero said they are not familiar on how Murphy plays, and it might be an advantage or disadvantage for them.
