Blackwater owner thrilled to have ‘biggest steal of the draft’ Andre Paras on board

Blackwater team owner Dioceldo Sy is thrilled to have the son of legendary PBA player Benjie Paras on board.
The Bossing, who took in big man Rey Mark Acuno and guard Joshua Torralba in the 2nd round of the recently concluded PBA Season 46 Draft, nabbed Andre Paras in the succeeding round, 27th overall, much to the delight of Sy who knows fully well that this particular recruit could help the team’s cause on the court as a player and off the court as probable product endorser.
“Poging Bossing. Lots of pogi now on our team. But now it’s Bossing,” wrote Sy in a message to Manila Bulletin.
The 25-year old Paras, who dabbles as an actor with several television series and comedy movies with GMA-7, posted decent averages of 7.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.7 during the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup while playing for AMA Online Education. He also had a short stint with the Imus squad in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Sy believes that Paras can join hands with David Semerad, the team’s newly-acquired forward who arrived just last week via trade from TNT, in forming a bruising frontcourt duo for the Nash Racela-mentored squad.
“For me, Andre might just be the biggest steal in this year draft. He’s a sound rebounder and defender,” expressed Sy.
“Definitely, he can work hand-in-hand with Semerad,” he added.
