Gilas Pilipinas Men’s team head coach Yeng Guiao has released the composition of the national team’s 19-man training pool for the 2019 FIBA World Cup scheduled on August 31 to September 15 in China.
Fil-Am NBA player Jordan Clarson has been included on the pool together with naturalized player Andray Blatche who arrived over the weekend and attended the team’s Monday practice.
Aside from the two, Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle were also added as back-up naturalized players in the event that Blatche is unable to play.
Guiao is hoping that FIBA will decide favorably on the appeal made by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) for Clarkson to be considered as a local player.
The other members of the pool are June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, Japeth Aguilar, Mark Barroca, Paul Lee, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, Beau Belga, Gabe Norwood, Raymond Almazan, Kiefer Ravena, Matthew Wright, Robert Bolick, Poy Erram and CJ Perez.
The pool was approved on Monday by SBP president Al Panlilio and chairman emeritus Manny V. Pangilinan.
Guiao bared that only the final 12-man line-up will travel to China along with possibly 1 back-up player.
The team will depart for Foshan, China on August 29.
