Columbian finally found a way to win and it came after Akeem Wright found his touch from deep.
Akeem Wright laced his game-high 23 points with three triples in the fourth quarter that sparked the Dyip’s 100-84 victory over usual victim Rain or Shine Friday in the PBA Governors Cup at the Ynares center in Antipolo.
Those triples by Wright, who came into the game averaging just 28 percent from beyond the arc, helped give him 15 for the period as he led Columbian to the breakaway from an erstwhile tight game.
With Jerramy King, Ronald Tubid and Rashawn McCarthy joining in, the Dyip outscored the Elasto Painters 32-21 in the final canto and on to their first win in 10 games.
The win actually snapped Columbian’s 23-game losing skid in the season-ending tourney since 2016 and also arrested its 11-game slide since the mid-season Commissioner’s Cup.
It took total team effort as King wound up with 18 points, Ronald Tubid and McCarthy 16 apiece and Andreas Cahilig 13.
