Phoenix found an unlikely rallying point in Jason Perkins Wednesday.

Perkins scored eight of his 10 points in the fourth period while adding hustle and tenacity on both ends, sparking the Fuel Masters to a 103-97 win over Rain or Shine in the PBA Governors Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Eugene Phelps and Calvin Abueva each scored 18 points to share scoring honors with the former adding 20 rebounds and seven assists and “The Beast” doing his fair share off the boards with 12 caroms.

Perkins’ contributions, aside from those of LA Revilla, RJ Jazul and Matthew Wright proved indispensable as Phoenix realized the win which it sorely wanted.

After improving to a 7-3 slate the Fuel Masters moved up to fourth place and need to win over Blackwater at eliminations end on Nov. 4 to realize at least a tie for the spot, which carries with it a twice-to-win advantage in the quarterfinals.

The scores:

Phoenix 103 – Abueva 18, Phelps 18, Wright 17, Revilla 13, Chua 12, Perkins 10, Jazul 7, Intal 3, Wilson 3, Kramer 2, Alolino 0.
