After his boss, team owner Manny V. Pangilinan, expressed his disappointments over the officiating in Game 3, TNT big man Poy Erram has something in mind too to share with in social media.
Erram accused a certain player from their Finals nemesis Magnolia Hotshots of trying to hurt others intentionally and even spitting on the face of one of his teammates.
In his official Instagram account, the former Ateneo Blue Eagle made such accusations briefly after TNT’s 106-98 Game Three loss against the Hotshots but did not mention certain names in the process.
However, Erram insisted that such alleged acts should have no place in the Asia’s first play-for-pay league.
“Basketball is a physical game and everybody knows that. But if you do something beyond that: it’s down right disrespectful and it reflects on who you are as a person. Taunting and trash talk, that’s part of the game. If you get hit, prepare yourself and just play cause IT’S PART OF IT,” Erram quoted in his Instagram post.
He also called out the player to control his emotions and not let such acts tarnish his name in the process.
“You are an adult you know what you’re doing and please don’t give the excuse na nadala sa emotion. That’s bullshit and you know that! Wag mong hayaan masira ang pangalan mo dahil sa mga ganyan sitwasyon na alam mo naman na ikakasasama mo,” Erram added.
Furthermore, the former two-time PBA All-Star stated that his action to air his sentiment in social media is a reminder that being a professional athlete is a privilege and thus one should act accordingly.
“I choose my freedom and I choose to speak so that this kind of attitude stops right now and that it won’t happen again to anyone,” he added.
The post garnered mixed reactions and even caught the attention of Erram’s teammate Kelly Williams and Dave Marcelo.
“Win or lose, it’s unacceptable,” Williams commented.
“Sana tingnan nila. Hindi ‘yang oo lang ng oo,” Marcelo said.
