Gilas Youth absorbs 92-64 beating from Russia

The Gilas Pilipinas Youth team suffered their biggest defeat in the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup at the hands of Russia via 92-64 rout, Tuesday night at the Heraklion University Hall in Greece.

The national team, thus, absorbed their third straight loss in the tournament and will now face Group D top-notcher and World number 4 Serbia in the crossover knockout Round of 16.

Kai Sotto paced Gilas Youth with 14 points, 7 rebounds and a tournament-high 6 blocks. Sean Ildefonso likewise finished with 14 markers while Carl Tamayo added 12.

Aleksandr Ershov led the 17th ranked team in the world with 21 points on a remarkable 10 of 13 shooting from the field to go along with 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

The game against the undefeated Serbians will be on Wednesday, July 3, 11:15pm.
