Terrence Romeo has yet to suit up for San Miguel in the ongoing 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and his return would certainly be a welcome development for the reigning Philippine Cup champs who are currently struggling with a 2-5 record going into the critical stage of the elimination round.
The 3-time PBA scoring champion, who is coming off an Achilles injury, took part in his team’s Thursday morning practice and didn’t miss a beat as the Beermen went through their preparations for the game against the NLEX Road Warriors which is set the following day, Friday July 5, at the MOA Arena.
Romeo, however, maintained that while the pain is already bearable his biggest concern is his game shape which as of now is still far from the ideal.
“Siguro, titignan ko pa bukas kasi out of shape so baka mamaya hindi ako makahabol,” said the 27-year old out of Far Eastern University.
“Masakit pa rin ng konti pero natitiis ko naman. Ang concern ko is yung kundisyon. Ilang balik pa lang, pagod na ako,” he added.
Beermen head coach Leo Austria, for his part, said that while the return of Romeo would definitely come as an added boost to the team which in dire need of wins, he won’t force the flamboyant guard to play if he is not yet a hundred percent fit and healthy.
“It will depend on him. Kami naman sa coaching staff we will not be forcing them to play if they are not a hundred percent or they are not in the mood to play. Kasi we always give them the benefit of the doubt. We don’t want their injury to be aggravated,” said Austria.
