Greg Slaughter insists he wasn’t offered a new contract, still open to PBA return

Greg Slaughter is back on the news after Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel head coach Tim Cone revealed on the vodcast Coaches Unfiltered that the 32-year old Fil-Am has been incommunicado.

“We’ve tried to contact him a couple of times. I tried to contact him and he hasn’t responded. We don’t know if he’s going to come back,” explained Cone.

The 2-time Grand Slam-winning mentor added that he heard from a third party that the 2014 PBA Rookie of the Year is planning to tryout for an NBA G League team.

Slaughter neither confirmed nor denied the disclosure and instead recalled the “strange” moment he experienced when his contract lapsed last January.

“I was not offered a deal by Ginebra even after my contract expired at the end of January. I found it strange because previous contract dealings I was well informed ahead of time,” claimed the 7-foot center out of the Ateneo de Manila University during an interview with Sun Star Cebu.

Despite the apparent misunderstanding with team management, Slaughter is not ruling out a future reunion with the Gin Kings.

“I am open to returning to the PBA in the future. I love the fans who have supported me through everything and the ‘Never Say Die’ spirit will always be a part of me. Of course, I am open to playing for Ginebra in the future.”
