Jayjay Helterbrand, Gerald Anderson set to play for CdO Rafters in Mindanao leg of VisMin Cup

Former Brgy. Ginebra guard Jayjay Helterbrand and actor Gerald Anderson are slated to bring star power into the Mindanao Leg of Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup.

The duo is set to see action for the Cagayan de Oro Rafters along with former PBA players JR Cawaling, Mac Baracael, Jason Ballestero and Roider Cabrera.

The Mindanao leg, however, has been suspended by the Games and Amusements Board in the aftermath of the farcical match between Siquijor and Lapu-Lapu City last April 14.

The league has nonetheless scheduled the opening on May 25 in Dipolog City.

The Visayas leg, on the other hand, is currently ongoing inside a bubble in Alcantara, Cebu.

When asked about the Mindanao leg’s status, GAB chairman Baham Mitra said that it is still under reevaluation.

The 32-year old Anderson previously played for the Marikina Shoemasters and the Imus Bandera in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. The 5-foot-9 Fil-Am guard also had stints in the Chooks-to-Go 3×3 circuit.

Helterbrand, meanwhile, retired from the PBA shortly after the Gin Kings captured the 2017 Governors’ Cup. He later suited up for Imus in the MPBL.
