For the first time in five conferences, TNT KaTropa pulled one over San Miguel Beer.
The Texters snapped a long nine-game slump in their head-on duels with the Beermen, fashioning out a stirring 104-93 win in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.
Jayson Castro played an inspired game marked by 24 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and four steals while Troy Rosario sparkled with six three-pointers and a total of 22 markers in his return from a three-game layoff as they led the Texters to a second straight win following a scrambling 0-2 start in the tourney.
“It’s a big win na pwedeng pataasin ang kumpiyansa namin,” said Castro.
“Importanteng panalo especially against the defending champion and considering na talagang kailangan namin manalo. Kung natalo kami, bagsak na naman kami sa ibaba,” Castro added.
Castro said playing as one cohesive unit was the key in the victory that forged a three-way tie at fourth place among TNT, San Miguel and Columbian Dyip at 2-2.
