Alaska cruised past an NLEX side that played minus coach Yeng Guiao, 100-87, to get back on the winning track in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday night.
The Aces never looked back the moment they took a 46-33 lead late in the second quarter before enduring a mild fourth quarter rally by the Road Warriors, who paraded a new import in Tony Mitchell.
Jeron Teng was in beast mode with 20 points and 15 rebounds to show the way for the Aces, who evened their record at 2-2.
Teng was also a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line and had eight points in the second period when the Aces started pulling away.
Five other players finished in double figures for Alaska with Chris Banchero and import Chris Daniels each contributing 17 points each.
“It’s just nice to get this win. A little sigh of relief on this one,” said coach Alex Compton following the game at the Mall of Asia Arena.
