TNT used a crippling 24-0 run in the 2nd quarter to turn things around and put San Miguel at bay for the rest of the way to take Game 3, 115-105, of the best-of-seven Finals series in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Terrence Jones fired 37 points to go along with 18 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 blocks as the one-time Houston Rockets forward bounced back from an ejection in Game 2 to power the KaTropa past the Beermen and regain the series lead, 2-1.
The 27-year old leading candidate for the Best Import award scattered 15 points in the tide-turning 2nd canto blitzkrieg which turned a 19-36 deficit into a 43-36 advantage for the KaTropa who outscored the Beermen in the period, 37-17, to seize control of the game and maintained it up until the final buzzer for the emphatic victory.
Just like in the 2 previous games, the match wasn’t spared of intense moments as Jones was assessed a flagrount foul penalty one in the opening period for headbutting Chris Ross while Christian Standhardinger was charged with the same offense in the 3rd quarter for elbowing Jones during a rebound play.
Roger Pogoy backstopped Jones with 29 points spiked with 5 triples while Don Trollano added 18 markers. Jayson Castro and Troy Rosario rounded up the starters with double figures as the Gilas duo contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Chris McCullough and June Mar Fajado paced the Beermen with identical 27 points and 13 boards while Terrence Romeo chipped in 13.
