San Miguel gentle giant June Mar Fajardo is on course for an unprecedented 6th straight Best Player of the Conference award.
Already the record holder as the player with the most BPC awards with seven tucked under his belt, Fajardo is set to add one more trophy to his collection as he is currently ahead by a comfortable margin in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup BPC race with an average of 42.2 statistical points per game.
The 6-foot-10 Cebuano was able to top the race on the strength of league-leading averages in scoring with 22.1 points as well as in rebounding with 12.5 per outing.
The NorthPort duo of Sean Anthony and Stanley Pringle are Fajardo’s closest pursuers with 37.1 and 36 statistical points respectively while Calvin Abueva (34.9), TNT’s Roger Pogoy (34.7) and Matthew Wright (34.3) round out the top 6.
Abueva and Wright are legit threats to the coveted trophy since the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters are still in the thick of the fight for the Philippine Cup crown, setting up a semis duel with no less than Fajardo and the Beermen.
NorthPort’s Moala Tautuaa (33.3), Magnolia’s Ian Sangalang (33.0), Brgy. Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar (31.9) and TNT’s Jayson Castro (31.0) complete the Magic 10.
Only the players in the Top 5 after the semifinal round will be considered as official candidates for the award.
