The San Miguel Beermen held a victory party at the SMC headquarters in Mandaluyong City to celebrate their 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup title and absent from the merry-making was top center June Mar Fajardo who attended Gilas Pilipinas’ practice at the nearby Meralco Gym in Ortigas.
Naiintindihan naman ng management so okay lang sa kanila,” said the 5-time PBA Most Valuable Player.
“Duty calls. Naintindihan naman nila ako,” added the 29-year old Cebuano.
Aside from Fajardo, TNT stars Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario also attended their first practice session with the national team after the grueling Commissioner’s Cup Finals series which the Beermen won in 6 games.
Despite feeling the effects of back-to-back championship runs, Fajardo vowed to focus on the national team’s preparation for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup which is scheduled on August 31 to September 15 in China.
“Nakakapagod rin. Kailangan na namin mag-move on. Iba na yung priority, Gilas muna.”
The 1st overall pick in the 2012 PBA Rookie Draft admitted that he has a lot of catching up to do but remains positive that he can learn the new plays just before the tournament proper.
