Justin Brownlee remained consistent in Game 2 but couldn’t save Ginebra against a vengeful San Miguel squad on Sunday.
“Man, the defending champs happened,” he sighed on the heels of the Gin Kings’ 134-109 defeat to the Beermen in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
“They came out and played tough, played very hard and tonight, showed why they’re winning a lot of championships in the past.”
Brownlee remained as lethal for the crowd favorites, finishing with 29 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals in 39 minutes of play. But unlike in Game 1, his supporting cast desperately struggled on both ends and the Beermen went on to equalized the series at one game apiece.
The Kings were just sloppy, turning the ball 19 times that led to 27 easy points for San Miguel – all contributing to their downfall.
But for Brownlee, Game 2 should serve as a lesson for the Kings as they look forward to Wednesday’s crucial tiff.
