Kai Sotto has decided to leave Ateneo and train abroad to pursue his dream of making it to the NBA.
The 7-foot-2 teenage prodigy announced the much-anticipated move through a lengthy post on his Instagram account.
“Nakapag-decide na po ako at ang pamilya ko. I’ll be leaving soon to start training full-time. I want to devote the next two to three years to single-mindedly focus on my goal of joining the NBA by 2021 or 2022,” wrote the 16-year old Sotto.
He left out such details as to where is headed to although talks are rife that European teams Barcelona and Real Madrid are after the UAAP Season 81 Junior MVP’s services.
The towering son of former PBA player Ervin Sotto said that he has thought about it a lot and promised to train very hard and sacrifice in order to make the country proud someday.
“Pinagisipan ko po ito ng mabuti. I will train very hard and sacrifice and focus in the next few years so that one day soon, you will be very proud of me. Gagawin ko po lahat ng makakaya ko, with the guidance of my dad and mom, to be the very best that I can be.”
Sotto added that he will talk about his decision during the Chooks-to-Go presscon scheduled on Tuesday, March 26.
