San Miguel enforcer Kelly Nabong has been slapped by the PBA with a P30,000 fine for his dangerous foul on a driving Chris Newsome during the Beermen’s game against the Meralco Bolts, Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 30-year old Nabong was ejected from the game in the 7:46 mark of the payoff period after being charged with a Flagrant Foul Penalty 1 for his move on Newsome and then with a technical foul for having a verbal altercation with Raymond Almazan who came to the defense of his fallen teammate.
Newsome, however, didn’t suffer anything from the fall and went on to finish the game which the Bolts won with plenty to spare, 125-99.
Nabong, meanwhile, met Tuesday with deputy commissioner Eric Castro at the league office in Libis, Quezon City.
Commissioner Willie Marcial warned Nabong that repetition of the same offense, or something similar in nature, will merit a suspension.
